About Darlayn: Dar went to Florida after graduation for a little while lived in the Tampa area. She married Delbert C. Dirks on July 12,1969. The marriage was blessed with two children, Charles J. Dirks and Tracie L. (Dirks) Prestin. They have twelve grandchildren, seven grandsons and five granddaughters. Both children live nearby.

Del worked for General Motors in Romulus and retired from there in 2004. Dar was a stay-at-home mom. The couple lived in nearby Belleville for 38 years before moving around for a year. They eventually moved to American House Carpenter Senior Living, a facility which provides independent living for seniors with disabilities. On February 14, 2013, Del passed away.
