About Evelyn: The day Lynn started kindergarten marked the beginning of a lifetime of learning. Her claim to fame in grade school was perfect attendance; she never missed a day from grades two through eight. She loved Mt. Hope Lutheran School, her classmates and teachers so much that she was always there. Then she went to high school. Because truancy was something most of us were not guilty of, her attendance was excellent, but not perfect. After graduating from LHW, she started college, changing her potential alma mater four times. She graduated with a degree in elementary teaching, which required additional education to retain certification. Considering a career change, she began a course of study in professional church work, which helped her obtain her colloquy. A couple of years later she earned a Master's Degree. While teaching at a school of choice in Detroit, she studied Spanish. After two years in Detroit, she became a full time student again. Regrettably, after a rewarding interval in the Language, Literacy and Culture PhD program at U of M in Ann Arbor, she was unable to complete her studies.

Above all, through all things good and bad, several constants have remained. She claims to have awesome families – her Vecsernyes family (especially her fantastic husband, Victor), her Lustila family (five siblings and two in-laws who are all LHW grads), and her church family at Historic Trinity Lutheran in Detroit. God has blessed her beyond measure.

One unexpected benefit – after all that sitting in classrooms, she felt inspired to move. She has studied ballet for thirty years; she is an excellent adult classical ballet dancer.

Message to Classmates: There is good news regarding Detroit. The LHW alum living in the area or visiting have been reacquainted, and that's been awesome. God bless you 'til we meet again.
