About Sandie: After graduation Sandie attended the Hallmark Keypunch School, received her certification and was hired at Royal Globe Insurance Co. in Detroit. She worked there for 3 years and decided to go back into the Food and Beverage Industry (she worked her Junior and Senior years of high school as a waitress on the weekends at a restaurant in Westland), and continued in the industry for 33 years.
Sandie was married and has two beautiful daughters, Monique (1970) and Kerrie (1975). Her husband died in 1975, she became a single Mom, and her daughters became the center of her life. She was blessed with three amazing grandchildren, Antonio (1997), Miranda (1999), and Mackenzie (2005). Her grandchildren continue to touch the very depth of her soul and she is very active in their lives, attending baseball games, wrestling meets, golfing, and most school activities.
Sandie attended every "Lutheran Alumni Golf" outing from 1983 through 2003, (with a "Niemi" on almost every hole) and the following two years when Lutheran Westland took over the outing. She also attended numerous "LHSA/Alumni Dinner and Auction" events.
Sandie has been a Senior Care Provider for the past 5 years allowing "special" seniors to stay in their own home, most of them with Dementia and some physical disabilities. These special people have been her "angels on earth" and have enriched her life each and every day.
Message to Classmates: I was so excited when I received our class reunion announcement. I was not able to attend our reunion in 1986, God be willing, I will be at our 50-year one. I am anxiously waiting to see all of you and catch up on our past years. God has truly blessed my life, may He continue to bless and keep us safe!
