About Pamela: After graduation Pam began her career at Detroit Edison. On June 20, 1966 she became a Junior Stenographer, luckily moving up the secretarial ladder. She retired on July 17, 1997 as an Executive Secretary to the General Auditor.
On December 26, 1977, Pam had the good fortune to marry Franklin Zimmer, and was blessed to be married to him until October 8, 2006 (the day after her 58th birthday) when he passed away suddenly and without warning. This has been a terrible loss in her life, but she has successfully moved on.
In 1993, Pam chose to become an Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics, and continues to enjoy that part-time career. From 1990-1993 she was President of the Adoption Identity Movement (AIM). AIM is a search and support group for birthparents, adoptees and adoptive parents. Her role in that organization was a birthparent. She was blessed with a healthy daughter in 1970, and unfortunately had to place her daughter for adoption.
Pam and Frank lived in Southfield from 1977 until they moved to Grosse Pointe Woods in 1984. Frank had three children, and Pam is still very close to her grandchildren, Jordan who lives in Tallahassee, Florida and Gage who goes to Central Michigan University and will graduate in May, 2014.
Early in 2001, Pam joined a wonderful women's group - The Grosse Pointe Woman's Club. The Club raises funds to award scholarships to Grosse Pointe students each year. She held the position of President from 2003-2007, 2009-2012, and again 2013, with her term expiring in May of 2015. She also held the position of Corresponding Secretary, Recording Secretary and Second Vice President. It has truly enriched her life being part of this wonderful Club.
Pam's home church was Holy Cross Lutheran. After searching for other churches after moving to Grosse Pointe Woods, she and Frank joined Christ the King Lutheran. In the past she was fill-in secretary for the church office and also was recording secretary of the Women's Guild and is Co-Chairman for a fund at the church called Helping Hands.
At this point, Pam is single, still living in her home in Grosse Pointe Woods, and has only one man in her life - her adorable Shih Tzu, Spanky. He's very spoiled, but worth every bit of spoiling.
Message to Classmates: It has been so special for me to have re-connected with the wonderful people of our class and a couple other classes for our monthly luncheons. I can't believe how it has enriched my life, and am SO grateful to Paul and Randy for all they do to rejoin all of us. Even though I wasn't close to some of you through our high school years, I believe and feel like we are truly "family" now. We can't choose our biological families, but we can make "friends" our chosen family. I hope to see you ALL at one of our luncheons or upcoming reunions. You won't be sorry. God's richest blessings to you all.
